Welcome to CSS Tutoring Services

Current Class Schedules

Updated March 10, 2010

Create your own class(group or individual). Establish the times, subject matter (SAT, ACT, Math Only, Critical Reading, Writing Skills, Subject tests, SSAT, GMAT, GRE, etc.) and level (honors or regular). We will also make additions and modifications to our current schedules based on requests. Contact us to work out the details (CSSTutoring@aol.com or call 804-897-7136).

Subject tests, SSAT, GMAT and GRE preparation classes are available and can be scheduled individually through the office.

Registration Instructions

1. Please register for classes by class number on the student registration form on "Contact & Registration" page on this web site (click page tab at top). See special registration instructions for West End location classes above schedules.

2. Directions to instructor/class location are located on the "Directions" page of this web site (click page tab at top).

3. Since all class time is instructional, homework will be assigned during each class (requires an average of 2 to 3 hours work between classes) to enable students to practice their newly learned skills.

4. PSAT/SAT Groups consist of 7 hours of instruction. ACT Groups consist of 5.25 hours of instruction. All books and materials are provided. Students are required to bring a calculator to each class session.

5. Please E-mail (csstutoring@aol.com) or call the office (804)897-7136 for all scheduling,questions and other information or refer to the "Biographies & FAQ's" page on this web site (click page tab at top). Also, contact the office for GRE scheduling and cost information.

6. Follow Up/Review Individual Sessions- (individual review and practice for those who have previously completed our strategy course or individual package) can be scheduled by e-mailing us at csstutoring@aol.com or by calling the office at 804-897-7136.

7. If you select a class that has an honors requirement, a score of 1200(math and critical reading) or better on a previous PSAT or SAT is needed to be accepted in that class unless you request and are granted special permission. If you have a question concerning this requirement, please e-mail us(csstutoring@aol.com)or call us at 804-897-7136.

Costs

*Regular PSAT/SAT Group Class- (complete test strategies and practice, book/materials)- $520 per student- total fee. Individual Instruction for PSAT/SAT preparation is available consisting of 7 hours of instruction which can be customized to your needs. Total cost for materials and these 7 instructional hours is $790 ($650 per student if converted to a two person package).

*Follow Up/Review Individual Sessions- (individual review and practice for those who have previously completed our strategy course or individual package) $80.00 per hour. Students are required to bring a calculator, their book and folder to each class session.

*ACT Group Class- (strategies and practice, book/materials for students pursuing this alternative test)- $390 per student- total fee. A customized ACT individual package consisting of 5.25 hours of instruction is available for $580 including materials ($485 per student if converted to a two person package).

*Critical Reading Strategies, Math Strategies or Writing Skills Strategies Group Class- (4 hours of specific strategies and practice concentrating on either critical reading, math or writing skills)- $280 per student- total fee (class size usually 3-5 students). Add a $40 book/materials fee if you did not participate in our Regular SAT Class or need to replace these items. Also available as an individual class for $450. Students are required to bring a calculator(Math Only Class), their book and folder to each class session.

*Pre-strategy Math Skills Review Course- (refresher in math/calculator skills--previous PSAT or SAT score of 500 or less) take prior to your SAT or ACT strategy course. The individual course instruction fee is $290 per student; $220 per student if converted to a two person package or $200 per student when offered as a group class (normally 3-5 students).

*Individual Instruction for PSAT/SAT preparation is available consisting of 7 hours of instruction which can be customized to your needs. Total cost for materials and these 7 instructional hours is $790 ($650 per student if converted to a two person package). An ACT individual package consisting of 5.25 hours of instruction is available for $580 including materials. A customized individual SAT/ACT combination package consisting of 12.25 hours of instruction including all materials is available for $1,250. Individual instruction for Critical Reading Strategies, Math Strategies or Writing Skills Strategies is available for $450.

                                                        Payments

*VISA & Mastercard are accepted for prepayment of classes---see form on "Contact & Registration" page.

*A $200 nonrefundable deposit is due upon registration in order to reserve your space in an SAT class or for individual instruction. Deposits are not transferable if you are within two weeks of your class start date. The balance is due two weeks prior to the start date of your class.

*A $100 nonrefundable deposit is due upon registration to reserve your space in a Math Only, Critical Reading Only, Pre-strategy Math Skills Review and/or ACT Group class. Deposits are not transferable if you are within two weeks of your class start date. The balance is due two weeks prior to the start date of your class.

*Make checks payable to: CSS Tutoring Services.

We reserve the right to cancel any group that does not have at least 3 students in it. The deposit is refundable only if a group is canceled.

Follow up/Review Individual Sessions-Prerequisite: If you no longer have your SAT book and folder from our course, a $40.00 book/materials fee will assessed.

Make up sessions-please let us know as soon as possible if you must miss a class. We will make up the missed session in another group in the same course time frame at no charge (based on availability).

Inclement Weather Policy-please call the office number, (804)897-7136, on the day of your class to see if classes will be canceled. If classes are canceled, make up instructions will either be left on the voice mail or you will report to your next scheduled class to plan a make up session as a group. College Counseling Package

The College Counseling Package provides a collaborative approach to college planning. In conjunction with The BrownMiller Group and College Connections, we will put our years of experience to work for you in order to minimize the stress involved during the transition from high school to higher education. As a result, you will be maximizing the probability of making wise choices and lay the foundation for success in college and beyond.

The cost of the College Counseling Package is $2,100.00. Note: A space will be reserved for students in The College Counseling Package on a first-come-first-served basis. Once the spaces are filled, we place students on a waiting list.
